Description The complex interplay of gravitational and centrifugal forces between the Earth, Moon, and Sun causes tides. On most coastlines around the globe, two tides occur daily, always precisely spaced 12 hours and 24 minutes apart. The Portugieser Yacht Club Moon & Tide indicates the expected times of the next high and low tides, as seen on the sub-dial located at 6 o’clock. This is achieved through a reduction gear that translates the regular rhythm of hours into a constantly changing time sequence of high and low tides. The double moon phase display, positioned at 12 o’clock, is intricately designed to show the spring and neap tides, also providing information about the strength of tidal currents. Spring tides, which exhibit particularly high waters, occur during the full moon and new moon phases. The 18-carat 5N gold case, blue dial, gold-plated hands, and 18-carat gold appliqués accentuate the maritime character of this timepiece. The IWC in-house caliber 82835 features a Pellaton winding system equipped with ceramic components. The power reserve of the movement is 60 hours. 0/5 (0 Reviews)
