We grabbed a couple of hours on a quiet September Sunday afternoon to have a stroll around Ynys-Hir, we haven’t been this year at all. We were surprised and sad to see that the shop is no longer operating on the reserve, we had hoped to pick up bird seed and feeders while we were there. However we did enjoy a very peaceful walk around the reserve and followed the new board walk and visited the new hide. While there were not many birds in evidence we spotted lots of dragon flies, bees and so many tiny spiders on the board walk. We loved the two new sculptures we spied in the trees and the grass. We only saw a handful of other people there, despite a number of cars in the car park. In this reserve you are quickly right into nature and away from any sounds of traffic, except for possibly an Arriva train winding its way along the estuary. We enjoyed our break from the house and garden and are determined to visit again in the Autumn.
